According to details dished by Kelly Ripa on this morning's edition of Live with Kelly and Michael, the wedding itself took place at a rustic castle in Perugia.

Harris and Burtka began dating more than 10 years ago and are parents to twins Gideon and Harper, who were born to a surrogate mother in 2010.

The nuptials were confirmed Monday in an announcement from Harris's spokesperson stating, 'We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italian in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family.'

Via Twitter, Harris himself (@ActuallyNPH) confirmed the wedding had taken place with his tweet, 'Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in husband.'

Harris and Burtka announced their engagement in June, 2011, shortly after the passage of the Marriage Equality Act in New York state. Harris said that the couple had actually gotten engaged five years before, but chose to keep the decision a secret.

In an interview with E! News in June, 2013, Harris reaffirmed that he and Burtka would tie the knot, eventually.

'Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do as a part of their well-being, so I'm sure it will be inevitable - and awesome,' said Harris.

That awesomeness appears to have come true for Harris with his weekend wedding, which apparently included a performance by Elton John at the reception.

Of course, Sir Elton's participation shouldn't be too surprising: The pop icon and his Canadian-born life-partner David Furnish (and their son Zachary) have already vacationed with Harris and Burtka and their twins in the South of France.

WAYNE'S WILL

Now it can be told: Mike Myers fought desperately to include the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody in his 1992 film Wayne's World. During a recent interview on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, the Toronto-born actor revealed that the studio behind the movie originally wanted to use a song by Guns N' Roses for the iconic scene in which Wayne Campbell (Myers) and his headbanger pals sing along to a rock 'n' roll track in the car. 'But I always loved Bohemian Rhapsody,' said Myers. 'I thought it was a masterpiece. So I fought really, really hard for it. And at one point I said, 'Well, I'm out. I don't want to make this movie if it's not Bohemian Rhapsody. ' '

Don't bother looking for Homer Simpson's favourite beer in Australia. Retailers in the land down under have been forced to stop selling Duff beer after the brand was determined to be in breach of Australia's Alcohol Beverages Advertising Code. According to the ABAC panel: 'The association of The Simpsons with the product name and packaging is so strongly entrenched in Australian popular culture that the name and packaging will draw the attention of under-18-year-olds.' Although Aussie liquor outlets are legally required to pull the product off shelves, they are being allowed to sell off the stock they currently hold.

Frances McDormand admits she has a 'little grudge' with the TV version of Fargo. The 57-year-old actress, who collected an Oscar for her portrayal of dogged police officer Marge Gunderson in the 1996 film Fargo, recently told the Daily Beast she's not pleased with the acclaimed FX series that cast newcomer Allison Tolman as a similarly resourceful cop. 'I have a little grudge,' said McDormand. 'Nobody asked me. They asked Joel and Ethan [Coen, the original film's creators and executive producers on the TV series] - rightfully so - but Joel and Ethan don't own the property in any way, since it's owned by the studio that created the film. There can't be another Marge. She's something else.'
