Transfer deadline day is upon us, and Arsenal still have plenty of work to do. After a disappointing draw away to Premier League newcomers Leicester City, Gunners supporters are desperate to see their squad supplemented with some new blood.

Speaking at the KP Stadium, manager Arsene Wenger insisted the club were open to more transfer activity. The Frenchman told Arsenal.com: 'We are out there and we try our best'.

With Olivier Giroud out until Christmas, most of the rumours surrounding Arsenal relate to possible striker signings. However, it should not be forgotten that they also need a centre-half and holding midfielder. Wenger must try and pull off an ambitious hat-trick of deals in the space of a day.

Although signing Radamel Falcao from Monaco seems highly improbable, that won't stop Arsenal fans from dreaming.

According to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, the Gunners have been offered the opportunity to sign the Colombian hitman for £55 million:

Manchester City and Arsenal have been offered Monaco's Radamel Falcao for around £55m (€70m) and are battling to sign the Colombia international before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday night. A deal at that price would smash [both] clubs' transfer record.

Arsenal are in the hunt for a striker after the injury suffered by Olivier Giroud, who is out until the new year with a broken tibia. Their fans implored Arsene Wenger to sign a forward during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Leicester City in which the inexperienced Yaya Sanogo led the line without distinction.

Handed the opportunity to publicly push for a move to Arsenal, William Carvalho instead stated his commitment to the Sporting Lisbon cause.

According to Inside Futbol, Carvalho refused to comment on any speculation after Sporting's draw with Benfica, saying only:

I have a contract, I feel good at Sporting. I have nothing more to say.

Carvalho would add power and class to the Arsenal midfield. However, with the player seemingly unwilling to force a move, Arsenal may have to pay a premium to get their man.
