A new subscription video-on-demand service that boasts 11,000 hours of popular TV shows is set to be unveiled today in Toronto.

Called Shomi, it will initially be available to Rogers and Shaw Internet or TV customers.

Users will be able to access the service on tablet, mobile, online and through Xbox 360.

Customers can expect to try out Shomi the first week of November and the suggested retail price is $8.99 per month.

The service will offer 240 TV series and 1,200 movies, with 30 per cent Canadian content.

Shomi has past-season streaming rights to a host of popular TV shows including Modern Family, Sons of Anarchy, Sleepy Hollow, Shameless and 2 Broke Girls.
