Game of Thrones actor says he just took the 'script as gospel'
Constantin Film International 'What's that coming over the hill...'
When starring in big-budget movies you don't necessarily need to know what you're talking about as long as you can read the lines proves Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington.
The 27-year-old - who plays Jon Snow in the HBO drama - may be the lead for the Paul WS Anderson (Resident Evil) directed blockbuster about the plight of the city of Pompeii but he has revealed he 'didn't do a whole amount of historical research' beforehand.
'I didn't have time before we started shooting,' he said in an interview with BBC. 'I know it's bizarre, but I went after we wrapped. I wanted to go to this place that I'd be pretended to be in for so long. I'm ashamed to say I didn't do a whole amount of historical research, I took the script as gospel.
'But then I went to all the exhibitions and I was pleasantly surprised to see that we were very historically accurate. I mean, we're a big-budget action movie and we're bound to take historical liberties. But not many.
'We were very painstaking in re-creating Pompeii in Toronto... It was strangely similar walking through the real town.'
