The French Open tournament heated up on Monday as top players such as men's No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal, No. 7 seed Andy Murray and women's No. 4 seed Simona Halep advanced to the quarterfinals in relatively easy fashion.

Nadal and Halep both have shined bright thus far at Roland Garros, and they are the highest remaining seeds in their respective brackets. Tennis South Africa shared the day's other big winners on Twitter:

While all eyes are on Nadal as he attempts to continue his dominance on the clay courts of Roland Garros, No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic is looking to complete the career Grand Slam by stealing the show.

The road to a tournament championship runs through No. 8 seed Milos Raonic on Day 10.

Djokovic has earned his way into the quarterfinal matchup against Raonic, beating Joao Sousa, Jeremy Chardy, No. 25 Marin Cilic and No. 13 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga through the first four rounds, respectively.

ATP World Tour's official Twitter account talked about Djokovic's fourth-round win:

As great as Djokovic has played in this tournament, he will be facing a much tougher test against Raonic on Tuesday. Few players can keep up with Djokovic's play along the baseline, but his Canadian foe has the power and speed to challenge the No. 2 seed.

Using his own powerful serve and elite return ability to keep Raonic on his heels, Djokovic must keep the pressure on the less experienced player in order to advance to the semifinals and keep his French Open title hopes alive. No. 7 Maria Sharapova vs. Garbine Muguruza

There are many women who have tried to step up with the early departure of Serena Williams from the tournament, but few have the experience on the court that Sharapova possesses.

After running through Ksenia Pervak, Tsvetana Pironkova, Paula Ormaechea and No. 19 seed Samantha Stosur in the first four rounds, the 2012 French Open champion understands what it takes to win at Roland Garros.

With Williams out of contention, Sharapova sees her chance to add another Grand Slam title and has played very well. ESPNTennis shared just how dominant Sharapova was to close her fourth-round matchup:

The Russian star told Ben Rothenberg of The New York Times about how important matches at the French Open are to her:

There are so many emotions you go through in a match, and then there are always moments where you feel a bit of a momentum change. I think you feel a lot more as a player than maybe a spectator, just because sometimes when I watch tennis and I know it's a really important point and someone there is like eating strawberries and cream and just like, it's not really on. 'Do you guys realize what an important point this is?' Even if it's 15-all, unless it's break point, they don't really get excited. You always feel momentum changes as a player.

On the surface, there is no question that Sharapova should steamroll through her quarterfinal opponent Garbine Muguruza, but this is the woman who stunned Serena Williams in the second round and who has looked incredible during the 2014 French Open.

If Sharapova wants to advance to the semifinals, she must be ready for a war.

Muguruza's tenacity will force Sharapova to serve with incredible power and speed. With a dominant serve and the ability to get horizontal along the baseline to return the ball with the best in the sport, Sharapova will be able to secure the win and advance to the next round.

Predicted Score: Sharapova 6-4, 6-4
