A wind chill warning is in effect for Winnipeg.
Today will be blustery with a high of -27 C and an extreme wind chill of -48 C.
Soul on Ice, the weekly skate under the canopy at The Forks, is cancelled due to the cold.
Tonight there's a 30 per cent chance of flurries with a low of -31 C and the wind chill decreasing slightly to -44 C.
Snow-clearing crews are still working on clearing major roads. Tonight the crews will begin clearing residential roads in zones B, G, J, L, N, Q, T and V between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The RCMP advises that travel advisories have been lifted in several areas of the province. They include Highway 6 from Winnipeg to Warren; the Perimeter cloverleafs; Highway 59 from Winnipeg to Selkirk; and Highway 16 from Russell to Foxwarren.
Brandon School Division will not operate buses outside the city on Monday, transportation supervisor Ron Harkness said today.All Brandon School Division schools will be open Monday and buses will be running within the city of Brandon, said Harkness. Attendance at schools is at parental discretion."Please call your school if you are not going to be attending," Harkness said.
Manitoba Teachers' Society reports that Virden-area Fort la Bosse School Division has decided to close all schools Monday.
Environment Canada predicts a high of -24 C on Monday with an extreme wind chill of -44 C. If all goes well on Tuesday, we'll see a low of -26 C with a high of -24 C and lots of sun.
