Barbra Streisand's voice sounded as sensational as ever as she performed her classic tune 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' which she released on her 1979 album Wet. 9:25 p.m. PT
Jimmy Fallon held up the album cover toStreisand's 1977 album Superman, on which she's wearing just a T-shirt and no pants. 'That's when the tush was up,' she joked self-deprecatingly about the vintage photo. 9:20 p.m. PT
Fallon is surprised that Streisand would redo a classic song 'People,' which she performed on her new album as a duet with Stevie Wonder.
'It's a whole other way of looking at the song,' she explained. 'It was trying to reinterpret the song.' 9:11 p.m. PT
Fallon told Streisand that she was very kind to him and his crew today and was not at all diva-like. 'What have you done with Barbra Streisand?' he joked. 9:06 p.m. PT
During her interview with Fallon, Streisand sat behind his desk, while Fallon sat in the armchair. 'Let's be honest - you're never coming back here,' Fallon joked when explaining why he let her sit there.
She then teased him about his singing ability. 'I wouldn't give up your night job, you know what I mean?' she said. She added that she was kidding and that she and husband James Brolin are big fans of Fallon's. 8:59 p.m. PT
If you were hoping that Barbra Streisand would be able to sing a live duet with Elvis Presley today, you're in luck. Sort of.
In honor of Streisand's new album Partners, which features her singing duets with various high-profile vocalists, she sang a live medley of three tunes. Jimmy Fallon joined her by impersonating three of her duet partners from the album.
Streisand sang the first verse of Presley's 'Love Me Tender,' and then Fallon joined her in an Elvis wig and sunglasses. 'My king,' Streisand quipped as Fallon did his best on the chorus with Presley's signature inflection.
Next, Streisand performed 'I'd Want It to Be You,' with Fallon wearing a cowboy hat (natch) as The Voice judge Blake Shelton. 'That was actually good,' Streisand told Fallon, sounding genuinely surprised.
Then, they ended with a love song, singing 'It Had to Be You' with Fallon filling in for crooner Michael Bublé. Fallon really got into the spirit and went in for a kiss, but Streisand wasn't feeling quite as swept away. 8:36 p.m. PT
Jimmy Fallon didn't waste any time acknowledging why everyone is excited for Monday's Tonight Show.
As he started his monologue, he told the audience that they were a 'hot crowd.' But then he added: 'I know you're not here for me - you're here for Barbra.' 7 p.m. PT
Barbra Streisand is coming back to late-night TV after a very long time away - and The Hollywood Reporter plans to be there for all the glory.
The legendary performer is the sole scheduled guest on Monday's Tonight Show, where she will chat with host Jimmy Fallon, appear in comedic bits and sing. Streisand's new album Partners is set to be released Sept. 16.
THR will be updating the post live as the show happens, starting at 8:35 p.m. PT (of course, if you're on the West Coast, you won't able to watch the show itself until it airs at your regular local time).
It's no surprise that Streisand's appearance is so highly anticipated. She hasn't been a late-night talk show guest since appearing on the Tonight Show way back in 1963, although she made a cameo appearance on a 1994 episode of CBS' Late Show With David Letterman.
The singer-actress-director has sold more than 245 million albums worldwide and is one of only 16 people to have earned all four of the U.S.' major entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (her Tony was an honorary award). More to come...
