Preparations are under way for the Montreal Marathon, with organizers expecting a record turnout.

Nearly 35,000 runners from 45 countries are signed up for the five races - the marathon, half-marathon, and the 10k, 5k and 1k races.

The marathon starts at 8:30 a.m. on the Jacques-Cartier bridge.

Runners will wind through Île Ste-Hélène , Île Notre-Dame, Old Montreal and several neighbourhoods in the central and eastern parts of the island before reaching the finish line at La Fontaine Park.

Participants will be able to enjoy more than 20 live concerts by local artists taking place along the various race routes. Driver delays

Motorists can expect delays in the central and eastern part of the island for much of the morning and early afternoon.

For people getting to and from the South Shore, the Jacques-Cartier Bridge will be closed from 4 a.m. until noon.

The Metro's yellow line will, however, be open Sunday, after several weekends of closures due to tunnel repairs.

See below for a map of the course and road closings.
