In response to video leaking of Ray Rice striking his wife unconscious, the Baltimore Ravens have suspended the seven-year running back indefinitely
The NFL has increased the length of Ray Rice's following a video of him striking and knocking out his wife Janay Palmer leaked Monday through TMZ. Citing new information after the video was released, the league announced that Rice would be suspended indefinitely.
The move by the NFL follows the Ravens terminating Rice's contract on Monday, hours after the second video was released by TMZ.
Ray Rice was already serving a two-game suspension for the incident when this new video surfaced. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who handed down the suspension earlier this year, has come under fire for the lack of severity of the suspension as well as the manner in which the matter was investigated by the league. For his part, Goodell has since admitted that his treatment of Rice was 'a mistake' and is reconsidering the NFL's policy on domestic violence.
