Hot News: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wed in secret French ceremony

Hollywood's golden couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wed in a secret ceremony on Saturday morning, it has been confirmed.

The A-list pair flew into Nice on Friday with their six children and their wedding is believed to have been a small affair, attended by just friends and family.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the happy news today.

The news broke when Brad was photographed wearing his wedding ring at a museum in Bovington, Dorset.



Wearing dark sunglasses, he removed his shades and posed for pictures beside the writer, director and producer for his new war film 'Fury' as excited photographers caught site of the gold band on his finger.

The pair consider Nice a second home and have owned a seaside mansion there for several years.

Although many of the details are being kept private, it is known that the couple's children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox all had a hand in proceedings. Maddox and Pax are the eldest kids and walked their mother down the aisle, with two of their daughters Zahara and Vivienne pouring rose petals around the venue.

Shiloh and Knox took on ring bearer duties.

In May, Angelina, 39, hinted the wedding was going to be soon in an interview with People magazine. She also joked about how much her children wanted the nuptials to be unconventional

'We will get married, and we're not in a rush, so we're just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right. We talk about it occasionally, and the kids talk about it with us,' she said.

'We all kind of think about how we imagine it or what it might be. So we've started to do that but we haven't made any definite plans

'But we are discussing it with the children and how they imagine it might be. Which is verging on hysterical, how kids envision a wedding. They will in a way be the wedding planners. It's going to be Disney or paintball - one or the other!'

The couple, who have been together since 2006 after meeting on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, have six children together Maddox, Shiloh, Pax, Zahara and twins Vivienne and Knox.

They have said in recent years they intended to walk up the aisle at the request of their children.

They have yet to share a photo of their big day, but are expected to publish the images exclusively with People magazine, the publication they have shared several poignant moments with, including the births of three of their children.

'Brad really wants to do something special, and frankly, a little weird to mark the occasion, and they want to get the exact same design, in the exact same spot in their bodies,' an insider told Radar Online recently. '[The couple are deciding] with what and where they will ink themselves to mark their long-awaited marriage.'

It was previously reported they planned on a summer wedding, but the famously coy couple always dodged questions regarding any specific plans.

Last year, Angelina bravely shared her decision to undergo a double mastectomy to cut her risks of breast cancer.

She topped Forbes' 2013 list as Hollywood's highest paid actress.

They are due to begin shooting for their upcoming movie By The Sea in the coming days in Gozo, Malta.

They will be starring as husband and wife in the love story, which has been described as an 'intimate character-driven drama.'
