Taylor Swift has been very upfront about referencing her ex boyfriends on her songs, and it looks like the 24-year old has done it again, as she calls out her ex boyfriend, Harry Styles, and perhaps even Kendall Jenner, who used to date the One Direction member.
A source tells Hollywoodlife.com how Swift made a casual mention of the duo in her new song, 'Shake it Off'.
'She has a line [in the song] that is very specific to Harry. When she talks about her ex bringing his new girlfriend, that's Harry and Kendall,' said the source.
However, others have claimed that the alleged Kendall Jenner reference is not in fact about her, but simply a reference to her haters everywhere.
Here is the line that was referred to in 'Shake it Off':
'My ex man brought his new girlfriend, She's like, 'oh my gosh, I'm just gonna shake.'
The source adds that right after Swift allegedly mentioned Styles and Jenner, the song goes on to reference the rest of the One Direction members, with the lyrics:
'And to the fellas over there with the hella good hair, won't you come on over baby, we can shake, shake, shake.'
Meanwhile, Swift's new music video for the song has been the subject of much controversy as many have accused the video of perpetuating racist stereotypes.
The 'Shake it Off' video, which premiered on Aug. 18, shows Swift interacting with a varied group of dancers which include ballerinas, cheerleaders, and b-boys. One of the groups is made up of mostly African American women, and Swift is seen crawling under their legs and laughing as they twerk.
The video's director, Mark Romanek, spoke with Vulture and defended the music video.
'If you look at it carefully, it's a massively inclusive piece...And let's remember, it's a satirical piece. It's playing with a whole range of music-video tropes and clichés and stereotypes.'
