Fans have been waiting a long time for the Oilers' stable of young talent to turn the team in a contender. One Edmonton fan apparently refused to wait one game more.
The Oilers fell 5-2 to the rival Calgary Flames in Edmonton on Thursday night, their opener spoiled by Mason Raymond's hat trick.
'That's a frustrating way to start the season,' Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins told reporters. 'I thought we had a ton of good in our game. ... Our power play was excellent.
'I'm not going to walk out here and say we played crappy, because we didn't. But we lost the game and that's unacceptable.'
It certainly is, says the now-former owner of this hoodie:
Unfortunately for him (we're assuming it's a man - it appears to be a men's hoodie), he forgot to remove his phone from the pocket before discarding the hoodie.
Not sure who the most hated man in #yeg is today, Peter Pocklington or the guy who threw his hoodie on the ice. #oilers

Throwing memorabilia on the ice in protest is apparently becoming a thing among Oilers fans, although with the team now at 0-1 - how will they recover? - none quite so hasty, or, given the loss of the phone, so costly.
An annoyed supporter waited until December last year, with the team in 29th place, to throw an Ales Hemsky jersey on the ice (Hemsky was later traded to Ottawa). Then, in March, someone threw another jersey on the ice during a blowout loss to the Flames, with two other fans reportedly following along.
'I take pride in wearing that jersey,' goaltender Ben Scrivens, who picked up the jersey with his stick and launched it into the stands, told reporters following the March incident. 'You're a fan, you get to say and do whatever you want. Call me whatever name you want. But when it comes to that logo, that's a sacred thing for us. It's disheartening for me to see our fans treat it that way.'
With his phone possibly gone, one fan is no doubt feeling a little disheartened as well.
