When it was announced that Alfonso Ribeiro of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fame would be competing on the new season of Dancing With The Stars, everyone knew it was only a matter of time before he broke out the famed 'Carlton Dance.' The question was: When? It's like going to a Don McLean concert. You know he's going to play American Pie eventually, it's just a matter of when he gets to it.
Does Ribeiro go all-in the first week, peaking early and trying to coast off a combination of nostalgia and the raw machismo of Tom Jones? Or do you wait, running the risk of elimination before you can pull out your ace in the hole? It's a delicate balance.
The actor waited until week four's 'Most Memorable Year' theme. He and partner Witney Carson started their jazz dance in a replica of the Fresh Prince living room, then completely brought down the house when they went to 'The Carlton' late in the routine.
Carlton's Carlton is as fresh as ever, but I'm not sure what Witney's doing. It looks like she's in the middle of those Night at the Roxbury guys.
Despite Witney's lack of Carlton finesse, she and Alfonso scored four perfect 10s for their efforts, easily winning the night. Then, they took a cab back to Bel-Air. It had a license plate that said 'fresh' and some dice in the mirror. Want more stories like this?
