Jack was back, to paraphrase Fox's hashtag for 24: Live Another Day (1.7/5), and now Jack is gone, again. The finale of the 12-episode limited event series that saw the return to action for Kiefer Sutherland's super-agent Jack Bauer after four years in both real time and TV time was up 21% among Adults 18-49 from its July 7 show. While no one expected the dramatic 1-hour ender ( SPOILER ALERT LINK) to hit the 2.8/8 rating that the two-hour Season 8 finale of 24 pulled on May 24, 2010, last night's show was down 34% from the 2.6 rating that the reboot event series got for its heavily promoted 2-hour May 5 debut. In context, it shouldn't be overlooked that the end of the 24 the series was at a time when network viewership in general was about 27% higher than it is nowadays. With 6.5 million watching, was up 8% over last week to hit its best viewership since its premiere, which 8.1 million tuned in for. Leading-in to the 9 PM 24:LAD, MasterChef(1.8/6) simmered a bit from last week and was down 5%. Overall, Fox took the top spot among the Big 4 with a 1.7/6 rating and 5.97 million viewers.
Like last week, CBS' only new show of Monday's primetime was Under The Dome (1.9/6). A mysterious burning red rain came down on Chrester's Mill on last night's show but ratingswise, the third episode of the second season of the series based on the Stephen King novel of the same name was up 12% from the series low of its July 7 th show. Almost hitting its cycle two premiere among the key demo, UTD edged in front of Gordon Ramsay's competition cooking series to be the highest rated show of the night. With 7.55 million viewers, UTD was easily the most watched show of Monday night.
As things move towards Andi Dorfman picking her man, ABC's The Bachelorette (1.7/5) dipped 8% from last week. Lead-out Mistresses (0.9/3) was even with its July 7 th show for what appears to be a series low in preliminary numbers. NBC's only original on the night was American Ninja Warrior(1.8/5), which was once again even with the week before.
Over on the CW, (0.5/2) was down 17% from its last original on June 23 rd. That lead-in probably didn't help the debuts of (0.2/1) or 9:30 PM's Seed (0.2/0). The former, edited with segments from the web series, and the Canadian comedy latter both premiered soft.
