The Houston Rockets completed a deal Friday to send Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers, clearing the necessary cap space to sign both Chris Bosh and Chandler Parsons, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The pick, according to the Los Angeles Daily News, is the Lakers' 2015 first-rounder.
Lin has an expiring contract that pays him $15 million in the final season, which made him expendable as the Rockets tried to add bigger fish to the roster. In order to sign Bosh to a maximum contract and match Parsons' three-year, $45 million offer sheet, the Rockets needed to move Lin off the books. When this move is official, Houston will look to push their pursuit of Bosh into overdrive. Bosh must be signed before Parsons for the contracts to work and there is a clock on Parsons' deal. Houston has until midnight ET Sunday to sign Parsons.
The Lakers need Lin at point guard, which was infrequently manned by overaged Steve Nash last season. With a season left on his contract, Lin is a better gateway to the development of Kendall Marshall and rookie Jordan Clarkson.
Nash cost the Lakers their 2015 pick, so they recover that in the deal.
An added benefit: Having a player of Taiwanese descent won't hurt the Lakers' multicultural appeal.
The Lakers might not be done. While they would prefer to keep Pau Gasol, the Daily News says team officials aren't opposed to a sign-and-trade package.
