TORONTO - There could be a new millionaire somewhere in Canada as the Lotto Max jackpot reaches triple digits with a $100 million available in prizes.
The Lotto Max jackpot for Friday's draw is an estimated $50 million with another 50 prizes worth $1 million each up for grabs. READ MORE: 'Weird and wonderful' journey for $50M Lotto Max prize winner
According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation this is only the fifth time Lotto Max has offered $100 million in prizes.
In British Columbia tickets were bought up quickly Friday as 'jackpot chasers' got their tickets ready for the big draw.
'During the lunch hour and after work, we generally see about 1,000 transactions a minute,' said Chris Fairclough, a spokesperson for the B.C. Lottery Corporation. Fairclough said in B.C. there's a trend among players to buy more tickets when big jackpots are offered.
Results will be announced late Friday and players can go to the Lotto Max website to find their provincial gaming agency.
