Kyle's Free NHL Hockey Pick Against the Spread

Two of the game's best meet up in Hollywood as the Montreal Canadiens head west to take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
The Canadiens head into Monday night's encounter with the Kings looking for their eighth win in their last 10 contests and third straight since returning from Sochi but they will be in tough against a very solid Kings team who has won four in a row. Montreal is a team to me that will benefit greatly from adding a piece or two at the trade deadline as they could use another top end scorer or a role player with playoff experience who could help this otherwise inexperienced group get over the hump. Montreal was wiped from the playoffs last year in the first round by the Senators and since the puck dropped in early October you can be sure that everyone on this team has that setback in mind and will do anything to prevent it from happening again. Montreal isn't the best team in the game by any means but they have been a very good team all season long and will look to give the Kings a sense of payback in this one after LA went into the Bell Centre earlier this year and absolutely pasted the Habs.
Los Angeles has won four games in a row and are starting their ascent up the Western Conference standings but a ridiculous season from the Ducks and Sharks will likely land LA in third place in the Pacific at best as they're 10 points back of the second place Sharks. The Kings are a team that is built for postseason success as they have all the necessities and I think they too will be active at the trade deadline as they could bring in another shut down defenseman to compliment Drew Doughty and Slava Voynov. Jonathan Quick already has a Cup title and Conn Smythe trophy under his belt which will go a long way in a postseason series and after being ousted prematurely last year I think the Kings will be itching to get back to the Cup finals. This is a very tough game to call as it depends largely on whether Carey Price will be back in for Montreal and as such the line is yet to be released. On paper I think the Kings are the better team despite Montreal sitting with more points but the Canadiens have been one of the toughest teams to handicap as they always seem to let us down when we back them and make us look foolish when betting against them. However, the one time I was riding the opposition against Montreal and it worked out in our favour was that infamous Kings blowout in Montreal and I am not shy to lay it down with them again especially at home.
