VANCOUVER - An evacuation order has been issued for anyone living in the region of the northeast half of Tetachuck Lake to the south side of the Chelaslie River in the Bulkley-Nechako area.

Evacuees are asked to call the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako at 250-692-3195 or 250-692-9411 to be registered.

Everyone is required to leave the area immediately, taking with them any personal items that are within easy reach, all pets and to help out any neighbour who may need assistance.

This evacuation order has come into effect due to the Chelaslie Arm wildfire.

This fire is estimated to be 5,000 hectares in size and is located about seven kilometres south of the Chelaslie River.

It was started by lightning and has been growing since Tuesday, July 8.

There are currently 10 firefighters battling the blaze along with two helicopters.

There are currently 70 wildfires across B.C., with six fires of note.
