Lana Del Rey was spotted spending time with her family after confirming her split from her rumoured fiance.

The Young and Beautiful hitmaker has called time on her romance with Barrie-James O'Neill, who she has started dating in 2011 and was reported to be engaged to last year, because he has 'some things with which he has to deal'.

Speaking in an interview with Switzerland's 20 Minuten newspaper, she said: 'We are currently not together. He is a wonderful person. But there are some things with which he has to deal. I will not explain it in detail. This was hard on our relationship, I no longer felt free. We'll see how it goes.'

O'Neill - who is a member of Scottish band Kassidy - was reported to have proposed on the singer's 27th birthday, June 21, 2013.

And although one year later the romance is off, Lana, 28, said she hasn't ruled out settling down with someone in the future and having children with them.

When asked if she would like to get married at some point, Lana replied 'I'd love to. And I would like to have children. Hopefully it will work out sometime.'

On Monday Lana was spotted in Paris with her parents and sister as she tried to put the split behind her.

They had lunch at L'Avenue restaurant before doing some shopping and the singer was clearly happy to have her family's support, smiling broadly as they strolled along together.

Barrie appeared alongside Lana as her love interest in the video for her track Summer Wine in April 2013.

In an interview two years ago, Lana said her song Off to the Races had been inspired by the Scottish singer.

She said: 'When I found somebody who I fell in love with, it made me feel different than I felt the rest of the day. It was electrifying.

'That's what inspired the Off to the Races melodies.

'That's one of the times when you're feeling electrified by someone else and they make you happy to be alive.'

And while Lana may have spoken about being happy to be alive in the past, her comments on death have caused controversy recently.

Del Rey was criticised on Monday, by Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances Bean over her comments she made about dying young.

Frances Bean Cobain - whose father killed himself at the age of 27 in 1994 - has encouraged the Young and Beautiful hitmaker to 'embrace' life after she admitted in a recent interview that she wishes she was dead and thinks it's glamorous to die young.

Taking to Twitter, Frances - who was less than two years old when the Nirvana singer died - tweeted: '@LanaDelRey the death of young musicians isn't something to romanticize (cont).

'@LanaDelRey I'll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it's 'cool'(cont)#

'@LanaDelRey Well, it's f**king not. Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life.Don't be 1 of those ppl' Adding: '@LanaDelRey ur too talented to waste it away. (sic).'

Lana - who claimed Kurt and the late Amy Winehouse were her heroes - is yet to respond to the comments, but after her fans jumped to her defense, Frances felt the need to explain herself.

She later tweeted: 'I'm not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience (sic).'
