In recent years, TSN's annual TradeCentre broadcast on the day of the NHL trade deadline has produced some of the most boring moments in television, but this year was different.

In addition to some big names being on the move, like Martin St. Louis, Marian Gaborik, and Ryan Callahan, the folks working for ESPN's Canadian brother also added some spice of their own to the 2014 edition of TradeCentre.

First, there was the talented Lester McLean playing the drums and singing songs with lyrics inspired by deals that were in the process of being made. In this instance, that deal in question involved St. Louis going to the Rangers for Callahan:

That blockbuster deal would eventually be confirmed, with the Lightning also receiving a couple of draft picks from the Rangers.

Then, just as the final details of the Tuomo Ruutu for Andrei Loktionov trade were coming in, the TradeCentre crew attempted to one-up Ellen Degeneres with their own selfie.

Unfortunately, the TradeCentre selfie would fall short of Ellen's record, earning a measly 26,921 retweets compared to her 3,273,085 (as of 5:26 pm ET on March 5th). But you can't blame them for trying (and succeeding) at making this year's edition of TradeCentre at least somewhat watchable.

Great stuff, TSN!
