Thousands of police officers are descending on Moncton Tuesday for what is certain to be an emotional funeral for three Mounties killed last week in the line of duty.

The RCMP regimental funeral for the slain constables will be preceded by an RCMP procession. READ MORE: Thousands expected in Moncton as city mourns 3 slain Mounties

Prime Minister Harper will speak at the service, which will also be attended by NDP Leader Tom Mulcair and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.

Canadians are encouraged to wear red in support of the fallen officers.

Created by other spouses of RCMP officers, the Facebook event encourages people to wear red 'to show that the fallen, wounded, their families, and all members of the RCMP are in our hearts.'

As of Tuesday morning, over 71,300 people signed up to participate.
