Firebat sweeps the finals series 3-0.
After months of gruelling competition, American Hearthstone pro Firebat has come out on top at the Hearthstone World Championships at Blizzcon 2014, with a dominant performance in the final best-of-five against Chinese pro Tiddler Celestial.
The finals saw four players for each of the four regions (Americas, Europe, China, Asia [South Korea/Taiwan]) do battle, and many tipped the Ukraine's Kolento or America's Strifecro to win, given their previous tournament and ranked play successes. Both were eliminated in the quarter finals, however, while Tiddler Celestial had a strong run to the finals and Firebat made some great plays to survive a tough confrontation with DTwo to get through.
The final series was played to a packed house, and Firebat won 3-0 using his ramp Druid, and takes home a $100,000 first prize, while T. Celestial walks away with $50,000.
The final game should be posted on Blizzard's Hearthstone YouTube channel soon, but in the meantime, why not read about Hearthstone's new Goblins vs Gnomes expansion, which will introduce more than 120 new cards to the game.
