TORONTO - The Greater Toronto Area is under a freezing rain and wind chill warning that is expected to cause several delays for school buses and public transportation.
An intense weather system is making its way across southern Ontario, raising concerns that dangerous conditions will persist on what will be the first day back to school and work for many people.
The temperature is expected to fall to minus 11 degrees Celsius this afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police are reminding motorists to slow down on highways and roads. It is also recommended to keep a safe distance between vehicles.
Below is a list of delays and cancellations: School bus:
Toronto Catholic District School Board: No bus cancellations but expect delays.
Toronto District School Board: No bus cancellations today and all schools remain open.
York Region District School Board: No bus cancellations today and all schools remain open.
Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board & Peel District School Board: Buses in the Town of Caledon and the County of Dufferin are CANCELLED, this includes all schools in the Town of Caledon and all school runs that begin in the Town of Caledon.
Simcoe County District School Board: All buses CANCELLED, including North, South, Central and West Zone. TTC:
No major service disruptions. GO Transit:
GO Train and Bus servrice are running normally. However, passengers should leave extra time for their morning commute as both bus and rail service may experience some delays due to the weather. Pearson International Airport:
As of 5:30 a.m., 190 flights have been cancelled. Passengers are reminded to check with their airline before arriving at the airport.
