The rocker is a fan of Mick Jagger's looks now he has aged and admires his wrinkles

Bono: A wrinkle fan, apparently

Singer Bono admitted that he has become increasingly jealous of Mick Jagger's wrinkles.

The U2 frontman believes the Rolling Stones legend looks better than ever, ahead of Mick's 70th birthday tomorrow.

In a bizarre comparison to famous Russian ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov, Bono said: "Mick looks a bit like Baryshnikov, like a ballet dancer from a different age. At the same time he still has a very beautiful face.

"The wrinkles that run through it now have made it even more beautiful. Why? Because he wears those wrinkles well. I love his wrinkles."

Bono likes Mick's older looks

The 53-year-old star also angled for an invite to Mick's superstar party, adding: "I would like to see him on the day.

"And then I would like to carry his guitar case for him."

U2 surpassed The Stones to claim the highest grossing concert tour of all time in 2011, making £479million from their 360 Degree jaunt, but Bono said he owes his business skills to Mick.

In a newspaper interview in Germany, he explained: "People despise Mick because they think he only thinks about money, but he is a businessman above all else.

U2 earned more money on tour than the Rolling Stones in 2011

"The fact is, he understands the business. Why? Because the Stones lost a lot of money in the beginning. I have to kneel in reverence to what he has achieved.

"What I like about him as a person is that he always speaks his mind openly and he never talks much about himself. He is not a narcissistic person."

Last week Bono was made a Commander of Arts and Letters, France's highest cultural honour, in recognition of his contributions to the arts and charity.
