Natalie Portman will venture behind the camera next year when she makes her directorial debut in a new film.
The 32-year-old actress is an Oscar-winner thanks to her starring role in psychological thriller Black Swan, but plans to try her hand at directing in 2014 with an adaptation of Israeli author Amos Oz's autobiography A Tale of Love and Darkness.
As well as directing, Natalie - who was born in Israel - also plans to write the screenplay and take a prominent role in the film as Amos' mother, Fania.

With shooting expected to begin in her birthplace early next year, Natalie intends to cast local talent this autumn - although she's yet to decide whether or not to shoot the film in English or Hebrew.
While her writing and directing credits are limited, the actress has previously directed short film Eve, as well as a segment in 2009 film New York, I Love You.
A Tale of Love and Darkness will be her first feature.
