British actress Rosamund Pike has landed a starring role in David Fincher's big screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's smash hit novel Gone Girl, reports suggest.
The Bond girl will play the lead female opposite Ben Affleck in the anticipated movie, with reports circulating earlier this month that the Argo star is first in line for the male lead.
Fincher has reportedly lined up an all-star cast with How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry also in line for supporting roles.
The Hollywood Reporter reveal that Rosamund, who recently starred opposite Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher, has been offered and is expected to accept the starring role in the thriller.
Pike will play the role of Amy, a wife who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary, with her husband (Affleck) soon becoming the prime suspect.

The British stunner has managed to beat a long line of A-listers to the coveted role, if rumours are to be believed. Recent reports had the likes of Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt in the frame whilst Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde also had been considered.
Following sales of over two million in it's first year of release alone, Gone Girl's film rights were soon snapped up by 20th Century Fox with Reese Witherspoon's production company Pacific Standard signed on to produce.
Reports from earlier this month have Oscar winner Ben Affleck in the frame to play Amy's husband with The Social Network director Fincher said to be in final negotiations with the in demand actor.
The film is due to start shooting this September with a 2014 release date expected.
