We have officially switched back to Standard Time from daylight saving time.

That extra hour of shut eye can be a big help for those who are sleep deprived.

Ryerson University sleep expert, Doctor Colleen Carney says we should take the time to evaluate our sleeping habits.

"I think this is a nice time of year to sort of reflect on your health habits, and take inventory of mood, sleep, and energy fees" Dr. Carney says.

"Thinking about do I get enough light during the day, do I exercise, eat well, do I stay hydrated, do I have a regular schedule?"

Fire officials remind everyone to double-check the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

While police warn, as the days grow shorter the risk of traffic collisions involving pedestrians rises.

They're urging drivers to be extra careful, and for pedestrians to wear reflective clothing at night.
