"I share this honour with all of you."
Former Vancouver Canuck Pavel Bure had his No.10 jersey retired by the organization this evening.
Bure watched his number raised to the rafters alongside Stan Smyl's No. 12, Trevor Linden's No. 16 and Markus Naslund's No. 19.
He took to the stage to thank the people who helped foster his hockey career.
Former Vancouver Canucks player Gino Odjick and team manager Pat Quinn were both present for the special occasion.
They both received standing ovations from the fans. They were on the ice along with Bure's mother and wife, and the Aquilini family.
Bure took the time to thank both Odjick and Quinn.
Bure called Quinn a great man, saying, "I was so young when we first met, you taught me a lot about being a great player and a great man."
To Odjick he said, "Gino, I don't know anyone with a bigger heart than you."
Bure also thanked Vancouverites, praising the city.
"I was very lucky to be in such a wonderful city, with such wonderful people."
Ahead of the game, many fans were Tweeting about their excitement, along with pictures of tonight's game tickets and Bure jerseys.
